Spring
Ahh. Spring is almost here. My little bulbs have started poking up through the soil, stretching into the ever more warm sun.
Spring is always a time of hope for me. I know in a few short weeks I can dig in the dirt and connect with the earth in my garden. I know my bulbs will become a riot of color and joy.
Renewal, planning the veggie garden, looking at gardening catalogues, what will I plant in my pots this year? When to start feeding the bees?
May this hope and optimism spill over into all aspects of my life.

Hamilton Island
O.K the web site says it may be up to 5 days before we make it on to their site.
So much for instant fame!
kids
I don't get it. We got Cinderella from blockbuster last Friday night. I swear Ella would watch it 3 times a day if we let her. Cinderella is even better than Barney in her book. Ella was not raised to be a girly girl. She has the cards stacked against her with two rough and tumble brothers. She had a hand me down boy doll (which she named brother) until she was 2 1/2 and I felt sorry for her because she was using duck head book ends as dolls. But Cinderella and the whole princess academy stuff must be hard wired in her DNA.
Then again Cinderella had Albert mesmerised and Henry is mad he couldn't see it because of his homework. I guess it is just a great classic.
Just don't live your life expecting hard working feet to fit in glass slippers.

Big Hats
I forget what it is like to go out. First friday came and Sue, Jen and myself went out on the town. First stop was the smokebrush garage sale. I made a haul. They had these really cool theater hats. I could not help myself, because you never know when you are going to need a REALLY big hat.
We hit all the art spots, FAC modern, Rubbish, then a very entertaining artsy wine party.
It was a great time. But I love my 3$ hats!

Friends
Old Friends, new friends. I am very lucky to have both. I drove to DIA yesterday to have lunch with and old friend, Joanna. We have known each other for 20 years. She is just about the only one I keep in touch with since college days. How many friends have drifted off in that time?
It was so good to see her, but I wonder how things have changed for her. It used to be we would meet and it was like we saw each other just yesterday, but it could have been months. Now it was years and tears, and it took a while to have it feel like old times.
I realized friendship must be fed with: care, consideration, and communication, or it might just drift away.
Thanks for being my friend Joanna.
